Define Your Dreams/Goals!

“Secret 1. Define Your Dreams
“You can’t get TO your dream- you must come FROM it.”
_____Mary Morrissey

What Do You Really Want?
In order to get what you want, you must define what you want. In other words, you must decide what you want.
Sometimes when we dream, we are disconnected from our dreams and we treat our dreams more like fantasies that will never really come true. What if we shift our thinking, connect with our dreams, and begin to accept these new thoughts and ideas as viable possibilities? Consider how different our lives would become if we believed in and lived out our dreams.
You must be willing to dream big dreams.
“Don’t downgrade your dream to match your reality, upgrade your faith to match your destiny.”- unknown

“I would like to share one of the stories that I heard from Mary Morrissey’s Dream Builder Live seminar. This is a story about a fisherman who goes to a great fishing stream he's heard about, and he's been wanting to go there for a long time. Finally, he gets there, and he throws his line in the water and waits. He looks down the bank, and there's an old fisherman down the bank, and he's just pulling in one fish after another. Every fish the fisherman pulls out of the stream, he unhooks it and measures the fish by a broken off ruler that he placed on the edge of the river bank. If the fish is bigger than the broken off ruler, the fisherman tosses the fish back into the stream. However, if the fish is smaller than the broken off ruler, the fisherman puts that fish in his bucket. The young fisherman kept watching, he wondered why the older fisherman kept throwing all the big fish back and keeping the little ones. Do they get bony if they get big or something?

“I mean what's going on here? So he went down, and he interrupts the old guy. He said “Can you explain to me why you’ve been throwing the big fish back and keeping the little ones? Do they get bony if they get big or something?” The old guy says “Sonny look at this. See that broken off ruler there on the edge of the river bank?” The kid says ‘Yeah, I see it.’ and the old guy goes “I just measure every fish that I catch by that broken off ruler because that broken off ruler is broken off at exactly the size of the frying pan I use.”

“Now, we'd laugh at a fisherman that would be like that, but you know, unconsciously we all do that. The stream of life tosses us a big fish. It's an idea. It's a possibility. It's a possible future, and we measure that idea by the frying pan or the life that we have and we say I don't have the education. I don't have the money. I am too old. I don’t have the experience. I don't have the contacts. My frying pan can't hold that dream. And unconsciously we will throw that fish, that idea, that dream back into the stream of life and say give me a fish that fits my frying pan. Give me an idea that is just a little bit of a rearrangement of the life I have known, that I think is possible based on the circumstances I have.
I like to use the term ‘dream’, to me a dream represents something bigger than goals; when we say goals; many people set goals based on their condition and reality so there is a tendency for them to limit that beliefs and often their goals are too easy and lack imagination. “You must rise from your dreams for you to be successful, no matter what circumstance or condition you’re experiencing now, be willing to have big dreams.

“Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don’t bother to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.” - William Faulkner”
